Initiative for more physical diversity in contemporary dance

The tanzfähig Wohlfarter Richarz GbR has been active in Berlin since 2007, and also in Vorarlberg since 2017. The initiative aims to add the dimension of physical diversity to contemporary dance, and is educationally as well as artistically oriented. According to its understanding, the diversity of people in experience, orign, age and (dis)ability is fundamental for dancing together, but simultaneously it is suspended in dance as well. In various productions, regular dance training and numerous workshops, in part with international guest teachers, it has realized its approach and presented it at many events in and outside of Germany.

For Evelyne Wohlfarter and Bernhard Richarz, who direct the initiative together, this means: “We have the goal of making the differences in bodies perceptible in dance, of allowing to be led by their beauties and of shaping the diversity into a coherent whole."

Dachverband Tanz Deutschland

The Dachverband Tanz Deutschland (DTD) has been working as a nationwide platform for artistic dance in Germany since 2006. Based on the awareness of the stakeholders that the dance in the political landscape of the Federal Republic must speak with one voice, the umbrella organization Dachverband Tanz now acts as a network of outstanding associations and institutions for the dance. It develops position papers and concepts for the promotion of dance in Germany, realizes campaigns and initiatives and implements them in its projects.

The members of the association are, among others, the Akademie der Künste, tanzhaus nrw, HELLERAU - the European Center for the Arts, representatives of the Staatsballett Berlin, the Bayerisches Staatsballett, the German Ballet and Dance Theater Directorate Conference (BBTK), the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz (HZT) and the network of the German Digital Dance Archives.

Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin (HZT)

The Inter-University Centre for Dance (HZT) started as a pilot project of “Tanzplan Berlin” in 2006. HZT Berlin has continued under the organization of Berlin University of the Arts and the College of Dramatic Art ‘Ernst Busch’ in cooperation with the network TanzRaumBerlin  from 1 of April 2010 on.

The outstanding feature of the three study programmes at the HZT Berlin is their close combination of academic training and professional artistic practice; the courses are experimental in orientation and link artistic teaching with the teaching of scientific principles, accompanied by professional practice.
